Emanuele Pianese is the chief of the CBRN (Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear) Risk office in the “Central Directorate for Emergency and Technical Rescue” of the Italian National Fire Corps in Rome, within the Ministry of the Interior. He is a nuclear engineer, a CBRN expert and has been the radiological assessor of the Italian Fire Brigades for twenty years. He has a wide experience in nuclear and radiological emergencies; he is also the Italian representative in the NSGC (Nuclear Security Guidance Committee) of IAEA -Wien. He took part in almost all relevant accidents/incidents involving radiation in Italy during the last fifteen years; he acted as Italian nuclear expert seconded to the ERCC in Brussels during the Fukushima accident. He was Fire Commander of Vercelli Province in 2011.
